JAZZIE B sound boy, desginer and buisnessman.
1980's was a perfect oppertunitie for people to excel in their own individual ideas and personal creativity. During the early years Soul II Soul started their first sound sytem in north london called Jah Rico playing mainly reggea for no more than three years until their vibes became more funky and soulful, with a traces of hip hop.
Their sound was unique and like non other, it wasnt just about who played, it was about creating a vibe for the people, and nothing was quite like the African Center in Covent Garden.
"You had people from all walks of life at the Africa Centre. A very eclectic crowd. It was like Benetton down there!"
they were a youth subculture in general, creating their own regonisable 'Funki Dred' logo and being a great asthetic to the UK. Their sound/style was fresh, contagious, and influential oppening up more than three shopes during the 80s around london, attracting all types of people.
